Piece with underglaze

Summary

My idea for my head sculpture was to make a alien. I chose to only do one eye and no eye brows. I like that I chose to do one eye but I wish i would have took more time on the eyelid so that it looked more realistic. I also wish i would have painted it green and made the nose a little bigger. Over all I would like to remake it in the future. But, it is still a very cool piece.

Summary

For my stamp I chose to do a sun on it. When I was making it, it looked really good until I made the stump part thicker then my thumb so I had to shave it down causing it to look a little lazyand rushed. Also I wish the sun was more 3D and not so pressed into the base. What I do like about this piece is that it is unique and one of a kind. Overall I like this piece and thimk it is pretty well made for my first project.

Summary

For my piece with underglaze, I chose to make a little tile with a martini on it. I got this idea from Pinterest and wanted to make magnets. When I was making this piece I also took a little bit of clay from the inner part of the martini to make it look a little more 3D. I think I did a really good job. The only thing I would change is the background. I think next time I will do a checkered pattern but overall I really like this piece.

Plan

Summary

  • Make a thin slab

  • make a cat

  • put the cat on to of the slab

  • add underglaze and details

For my final I decided to do the painting "Cat and Bird" by Paul Klee. I added holes in the ears to hold earrings. It was a really good idea at first until it all broke when it was fired.

Background

Reflection

Paul Klee created "Cat and Bird" to blend reality and imagination, using simple forms to explore the relationship between creatures.

If I was to redo this I would take more time on it and add more slip. Overall, I think this is a good ideas that was poorly made.
