Summary

Summary

I made this bowl by slump mold. I used a creamy glaze to keep the piece soft and clean, then added a small Hello Kitty design in the center to make it more personal. If I were to improve it, I would work on making the rim more even and smoothing out the glaze, especially around the edges. I also could have taken more time planning the placement of the design so it feels more balanced with the overall shape

I made this piece by hand, with two pinch pots to create a small vase form. After that, I underglazed it in a deep blue color and carved simple floral designs through the glaze to reveal the clay underneath. To improve it, I could have made the neck and rim more even and smoothed the bottom edge. I also could have planned the carving more carefully so the designs feel more balanced and consistent around the piece.

Summary

I made this piece by rolling coils of clay and stacking them to build the form. I used colored clay glaze to give it a soft pink base with blue and purple speckles. To improve it, I could have joined the coils more evenly so the walls feel more consistent. I also could have smoothed the inside more and refined the overall shape to make it feel more balanced and finished.

Plan

Summary

  • make and cut slab

  • role shapes for the bees

  • make the background pattern

  • paint

  • glaze

I made this piece by flattening clay into a slab and pressing a honeycomb pattern into it, then shaping small bees by hand and attaching them to the surface. After firing, I added yellow glaze for the honeycomb and darker glaze for the bees, finishing with a clear glaze to make it shiny. I could improve this piece by making the pattern more even, smoothing the slab, adding better detail to the bees, and experimenting with different glaze shades to give it more depth.

Plan

Summary

  • make slab

  • roll into cup like shape

  • cut silts in 4 places

  • stick them together with slip

  • add bottom

  • glaze

  • fire

I made this piece by shaping clay into a small hollow form using my hands and smoothing the outside as I worked. I created the opening at the top and let the piece dry before firing it. After it was fired, I glazed it with a blue glaze that gave it a shiny finish. I could have done better by making the sides more even, smoothing out bumps and rough spots, and cleaning up the opening so the shape looks more neat and balanced.

Plan

Summary

  • Make a thin slab

  • make a cat

  • put the cat on to of the slab

  • add underglaze and details

For my final I decided to do the painting "Cat and Bird" by Paul Klee. I added holes in the ears to hold earrings. It was a really good idea at first until it all broke when it was fired.

Background

Reflection

Paul Klee created "Cat and Bird" to blend reality and imagination, using simple forms to explore the relationship between creatures.

If I was to redo this I would take more time on it and add more slip. Overall, I think this is a good ideas that was poorly made.
